How elcap supports B2B groups

elcap team

If you look after marketing for a group of companies, you're probably not managing one website. You're managing five, ten, maybe fifteen, each built at a different time, by a different supplier, on a different platform.

That's the work elcap is built for. We're a Manchester digital agency and HubSpot partner, and most of our clients are B2B groups with two or more brands under one roof. Here's how we help them.

Why groups end up with a patchwork

Groups rarely plan a messy digital setup. It builds up over time. A business is acquired and brings its own website, its own CRM and its own way of reporting. A private equity investor arrives and wants numbers across the whole group. A new MD or CMO starts and asks a simple question: what's actually working?

Usually, nobody can answer quickly. Data sits in silos. Some sites are secure and up to date, others haven't been touched in years. In regulated sectors like energy and healthcare, that isn't just untidy. It's a compliance risk.

That moment of change is usually when groups call us.

Step 1: Stabilise what you've got

Before we redesign anything, we make sure every site is safe and supported. That means:

  • auditing each brand's website, hosting, plugins and security
  • fixing vulnerabilities and moving sites onto secure, managed hosting
  • checking compliance basics like cookies, accessibility and privacy notices
  • putting one support process in place across the group, so you have a single point of contact

It's not the glamorous part, but it's often the biggest relief for a marketing team. Once nothing is about to break, you can start planning properly.

Step 2: Connect your websites and data

Next, we join things up. Most groups have leads arriving in different places, contact data spread across several systems, and reports that can't be compared brand to brand.

We connect your websites, CRM and analytics so sales and marketing teams across the group can see what's working. Sometimes that means bringing everything into HubSpot. Sometimes it means connecting the platforms you already have. We work with WordPress, HubSpot, headless builds and mixed setups, and we only recommend a change of platform when it genuinely helps.

The aim is simple: one clear view of performance across every brand.

Step 3: Improve how each brand converts

With stable sites and reliable data, we can focus on performance. This is where research-led UX comes in.

Our UX lab at The Sharp Project in Manchester uses Tobii eye-tracking and user testing to show how real people use your sites: where they hesitate, what they miss and why they leave. For a group, there's an extra benefit. We can compare brands side by side, find what works on one site and roll it out across the others.

Every change is tested and measured, so improvements in conversion are based on evidence, not opinion.

Step 4: Scale when you're ready

Some groups reach a point where running separate sites no longer makes sense. They want shared components, one content platform, and the ability to launch or absorb brands quickly.

That's where enterprise and headless builds come in. A headless setup lets a group run many brand sites from one shared system, each with its own look and content, without rebuilding from scratch every time. We only go there when the group is ready, and the earlier steps make the move far smoother.

What this looks like in practice

For a national energy company, we look after around 15 brand websites across the group. Our work covers security, support and day-to-day improvements, and we're now working with them on a headless replatform so brands can be brought online quickly and consistently.

For a healthcare group, we support six brands, keeping each site secure and compliant in a regulated sector while improving how they generate enquiries.

Different sectors, same pattern: get control first, then connect, then improve.

Why groups stay with us

Groups going through change need an agency that isn't changing too. elcap was founded in 2017. In the nine years since, nobody has left the team, and only a handful of clients have moved on.

That means the people who learn your brands, systems and stakeholders are the same people still working on them years later. Our senior-led team covers UX, development, CRM and digital marketing under one roof, so you're not passed between suppliers.

Is this you?

If you look after marketing or digital for a group, we'd like to hear from you if any of this sounds familiar:

  • you've recently acquired a business, or been acquired
  • you have several brand websites built by different suppliers
  • you can't easily compare performance across brands
  • a new owner or leadership team is asking for clearer numbers

Book a free 30-minute call and we'll talk through where your group is now and what a sensible first step looks like.
